The Rail Trial bridge is in! We had just about given up on getting to see it installed. We went by the site several times over a three hour period and the bridge had still not arrived a little after 9:00 PM. So off to bed we went when Paul Kelly called to say we should head back down. So glad we did, and thanks Paul for sharing your photos with us as well!
For being close to midnight there was a good size crowd, maybe about 20 folks. Paul got all the stats. for us, the bridge is 14 feet wide by 80 feet long and it weighs a mere 23 tons, the crane that lifted it into place weighs 100 tons. Worth watching for sure!
And where did the bridge come from you ask? Well, it was delivered on top of this cleaver freight truck, driven all the way from Tennessee. This brave gentleman, sat under it the whole way steering. The trip took two days.
We can't wait to get some more shots of the bridge in the daylight. Hope you get down there to see it in person.
