Newburyport Today is thrilled to welcome local photographer Mariah Gale as a weekly contributor. Please look for Mariah strolling around Newburyport snapping photos and asking "what's the word on the street?" Looks like she found some great subjects for her first post. Look for her photos and quotes here weekly.
Jim Hines, after just completing a class on the boardwalk with the Newbuyport
Art Association, relaxed and sketched the sailboats from the boardwalk. "It's a
great class!" he said, and his art speaks for itself!
Jess and Aquinnah beat the summer heat at Gram's, where they had just
finished up their ice cream and were people watching from the window. Aquinnah
enjoyed a classic- "vanilla!"
Amy and Bart, visiting from Berkeley, California, stopped for a snap on their
way down to the boardwalk. "We're just coming over from Marblehead- it's a
beautiful day!"
Josef Nocera played his guitar and sang in the square, while an onlooker enjoed
the music. "I play here a lot- usually here or the boardwalk", he said, after
finishing a crown-gathering acoustic Elvis cover.
The Booth family enjoyed their ice creams from the new MicroCreamery across from
the Tot Lot. "We're moving to the area", they said, and were getting to know the
town. And what better way than sampling the ice cream!
Ruth and Bob, from Peabody, awaited their lunch outside of Fowles with their
patient dog Trinka. "We're enjoying the beautiful day!"
